Gabriel Nuer (b. 2002 San Rafael, CA) is a Bay Area based artist, photographer & designer who brings an architectural lens to his work. Growing up between the hills north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and a small, south-facing beach on the Mediterranean, Nuer's work emerges out of the gentle, and occasionally grand landscapes of his youth.
The genesis for Nuer was in his childhood with parkour, and a fascination with how it transformed what he saw in the world. He has spent his time since then seeking to cultivate dynamic ways of seeing, developing new perspectives which add depth to the perceivable world.
During his time at UC Berkeley, Nuer worked across disciplines, using his experience photo and video to enrich his BA in Architecture, and allowing the degree to inform his artistic work. He worked with artists on architectural projects, and with architects on artistic projects, finding richness in the collaborative work.
Nuer translates these perceptions through the visual arts, often photo and video, where he applies these understandings to capture the feelings elicited by a space. He also works in the inverse direction, molding space into forms which look into themselves, encouraging inhabitants to let the external world disappear, and let their internal world blossom. Nuer's services are available in photography, architectural or otherwise, as well as in video and design.
