Nestled into the side of the Serra De Estrela Mountains of Portugal, Estrela Serenity creates the ambiance of a mountainside village with all the amenities of a resort.

Rooms are designed in the vernacular of local buildings, with modernized structural systems. They are clustered into communes which are connected to each other by a network of hiking trails.

At first glance, the resort presents as a peaceful sanctuary, but there is an undercurrent of something disquieting which cannot be immediately explained.

It is not until the designated trails are left and the paths which predated the resort are explored that the reason reveals itself.

Estrela Serenity sits atop an abandoned village, which seems to have emptied out some decades ago.

Some of the buildings are completely decrepit, with nothing but the walls remaining.
